Ila Faye Dial Nelson

August 14, 1919 — February 12, 2013

Ila Faye Dial Nelson was born August 14, 1919, in Basalt, ID to Albertine and Fred Dial. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 12, 2013. She and her three sisters grew up in Willard, UT. She graduated from Box Elder High School 1937 where she was a member of the dance club. She met and fell in love with Emer Nelson Sr. and after a very brief courtship they eloped on July 27, 1939. They were married 64 years.

She was President of the PTA, and served in many capacities for the State and Local PTA. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and enjoyed the association she had there. She is a member of the LDS church. Ila and Emer built a home in the Millcreek area and have enjoyed the members of the Valley View Stake as well as all their wonderful neighbors. She worked in the newborn nursery at Pioneer Valley Hospital for many years until retirement. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and exploring many places in the states and abroad. Most of all, Ila enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survived by her two children, Sharon Rogers, and John Emer, Jr. (Marsha); four grandchildren, John (Luisa), Shelley, Greg, and Sinndi; four great-grandchildren, Thomas, Anicia, Sage, and Jennifer; and sister, Verda (Mark) Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her two sisters, Irene Forsgren, and Bernice Richards.

The family would like to thank the staff at Highland Care Center for their wonderful care of Ila.

Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South, SLC, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 at the same location. Interment at Wasatch Lawn. Condolences may be shared at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
