Inge Benicke Ludwig

Our sweet Mom and Oma, Inge Benicke Ludwig, age 89 passed away peacefully November 19, 2018.  Born February 1, 1929 in Berlin, Germany to Georg and Gertrude Hoffmann Benicke. Married Herbert K. Ludwig on Sept. 28, 1951 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Her life was an example of faith, courage and love.  As a child she grew up in Berlin, Germany during World War II and suffered great hardship.  At age 18 she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She loved the gospel and served in many callings.  As a missionary in East Germany, she worked with the youth and was also the branch pianist.  She served in the Relief Society as Secretary, Teacher, Chorister, and as Primary President.  While serving her mission, she met the love of her life and eternal companion, Herbielein.

She loved serving people which was exemplified in her chosen career as a nurse at LDS Hospital in the Urology Department.  She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, and going to the Opera and Symphony.  She also enjoyed years of getting together with dear friends, playing cards and attending the temple.

Oma's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She especially loved writing her missionaries.  She loved making baby blankets, booties, and playing games.  We will miss her sweet smile and "Hoo Hoo, Hoo Hoo."  Auf Wiedersehen Oma.  We love you!

Survived by children, Christel (Kosta) Bikakis, Escondido, CA, Mark (Barbara), Ivins, Utah, Susan (Stephen) Haslam, Cottonwood Heights, Annette (Kent) Harris, Bountiful; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by husband, Herbert, son, Michael; and grandson, Ryan Bikakis.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday November 24, 2018 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family on Friday evening at the Holbrook Mortuary from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and also on Saturday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to services.
