Ione Prawitt

Ione Prawitt, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. After several years of bravely facing severe health struggles and chronic pain, Ione is finally at rest and wrapped in eternal peace.

Born on July 16, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ione lived a life defined by quiet strength, profound humility, and a boundless capacity to love. Her life’s greatest masterpiece was her family. She dedicated her life completely to raising her three sons, her three granddaughters, and her great-granddaughter, anchoring multiple generations with her steady guidance and fierce devotion. As a single mom, she struggled through life raising her boys, until she finally caught a break and landed a job at the post office. She was proudly dedicated to her work there, serving diligently for many years until her well-earned retirement.

To know Ione was to know the true definition of selflessness. She routinely put the needs of others above her own, giving everything she had to support friends, family, and strangers alike, never counting the cost to herself. Her generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed her path.

Beyond her devotion to her family and work, Ione was an exceptionally gifted and avid crafter. Her hands were rarely still, and through the art of crochet, she created countless beautiful works of art that will be cherished by her family for generations to come. Each stitch was infused with the same warmth and care she extended to the world.

She is survived by her sons, Stan (Karen) and Greg (Tonya); her sister, Anna Olsen; her nine grandchildren, Tessa, Spencer, Connor, Anita, Jessica, Millie, Tabitha, Breanna, and Rachel; and her fourteen great-grandchildren, Allee, Aree, Paislee, Ella, Charlotte, Kambreea, Memphis, Lexi, Roper, Remi, Tymber, Ridger, Avery, and Ayden, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

Ione was reunited in peace with those who went before her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Angelina Parsel, sister, Flora (Tiny) Jensen, brother, Joe Parsel, and her beloved son, Jeff.
