Irene JoAnn Kikkert, born on March 8, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of John F. Kikkert and Arentje Cornelia Kikkert. She is survived by her brother, H. John Kikkert, and his wife, JoAnn Y. Kikkert and their family.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a mission to the Netherlands. She was also a devoted daughter, caring for her parents with unwavering love and dedication until their passing.
She graduated from Granite High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Utah. She was a second and third-grade elementary teacher for over 40 years.
Irene found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including painting, watching mystery shows and episodes of M*A*S*H. She had a deep love for animals and took special care to ensure that outdoor birds were fed during the winter months. Music was another of her passions and she enjoyed her church pianist callings.
Her compassionate heart extended beyond her family and students, as she generously donated to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' missionary and welfare programs, as well as directly contributing to individuals missions.
Irene JoAnn Kikkert will be remembered for her kindness, her love for teaching, and her unwavering faith. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and love.
