Irene Robinson Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home to her Heavenly Father Monday, May 19, 2008 at the age of 83. Irene was born in Laketown, Utah, April 18, 1925 to Joseph Craven and Mary Coakes Robinson, and raised on the family farm. She graduated from Rich High School in 1943 where there were only 6 in her graduating class. She was in the Pep Club and played trombone in the marching band. She taught piano from an early age. Irene married Alma Carl Johnson on February 20, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Alma passed away on October 27, 1986. Alma and Irene raised their four sons in the Rose Park, and Millcreek areas of Salt Lake. Irene was a wonderful mother who taught her boys the value of hard work, honesty and a good education. She loved to play the piano and organ, accompanying many singing groups, including the Relief Society Singing Mothers and a special Sextet from Rose Park. She was a devoted wife and mother who shared her time and talents with many. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Alma, her parents, and her brother, Lewis Robinson. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Elggren, four sons, Allen Carl (Cheryl), Provo; Richard Wayne (Ann), Idaho Falls, Idaho; Stephen Ray (Bonnie), Taylorsville; Edward Joseph (Julie), Farmington; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. The family wishes to thank those who loved and helped Irene at the Millcreek Retirement Center, her home over the last several years, Millcreek Hospice, and those who made her last days on this earth a peaceful experience.
