Irma Clayton Anderson, 93, passed away peacefully Monday morning March 16, 2009, with family members at her side.
Irma was born in Salt Lake City, UT September 29, 1915, to Nellie June Edmonds and C. LeRoy Clayton. She married L. Joel Anderson September 4, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Irma lived on the Avenues until age seven when she moved with her family to a farm in Kaysville, UT. In 1930 the family moved to the East Millcreek area of Salt Lake City. She attended schools in Kaysville through 9th grade and then attended and graduated from Granite High School in 1933.
Irma worked at Utah Poultry (now Intermountain Farmers) until she married Joel and began raising her family. As her family got older she returned to work as a secretary until she retired.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings in the Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School and Young Women's organizations.
She is survived by her children David (Lorinda), Margery (William) Neves, Paul, Virginia (Alf) Johansen, Laura (Allan) Hennig, Larry (Lori), 24 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at the Evergreen Chapel, 2125 East Evergreen Ave (3435 South). Friends and family may visit Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Chapel and Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
