Irving Alanis GomezMarch 11, 1988 – June 15, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother, Irving Alanis Gomez, age 38, who passed away on June 15, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Irving was born on March 11, 1988, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Claudia Alanis and the late Ricardo Gomez. Irving was a beautiful soul, smart, funny, adventurous, a risk-taker, kind, loyal, caring, generous, charismatic, and free-spirited. He had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that could lift even the heaviest hearts. To know Irving was to know warmth, laughter, music, and love. Affectionately known as “G” and “Flaco,” Irving had a deep love for music. He enjoyed all kinds of music, especially Spanish music, jazz, modern rock, and rap. Music was more than something he listened to; it was part of who he was. He loved to sing, play the guitar and piano, dance, spend time in nature, go hiking, and share long conversations with his mother. Irving loved talking about God, and God was an important part of Irving’s life. He believed in Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. His faith, his love for his family, and his free spirit will remain a lasting part of his memory. Like many, Irving faced trials and tribulations throughout his life, but he fought hard to overcome them. Through every struggle, his heart remained full of love, humor, generosity, and tenderness for the people he cared about most. Irving had a special way of making the people around him feel loved. He lovingly called his mother “My Angel,” a reflection of the deep bond they shared. He loved his little sister deeply, and the last name he called out in his life was “Veva.” His mother and sister were truly the loves of his life. He was also incredibly sweet with his nieces and nephews, often telling them, “You’re the best of the best of the best.” Those words will live in their hearts forever. Irving is survived by his loving mother, Claudia Alanis; his sister, Valeria Alanis; his grandfather; his sister-in-law; his two nieces and two nephews; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Gomez; his two grandmothers; and his sister, who now welcome him with love. Irving’s life was a song sometimes joyful, sometimes tender, sometimes wild and free. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will continue to echo in the hearts of everyone who loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
