John (Jack) Allred Bradshaw
December 24, 1930 – September 21, 2022
Sandy, Utah
Jack Allred Bradshaw, 91, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and children, after nearly a century of a life well lived.
Jack was born in Salt Lake City to John and Ethel (Allred) Bradshaw on December 24, 1930, as a special Christmas gift to the world.
He attended the University of Utah and was a Mechanical Engineer, working with Litton Industries, North American Weather Consultants and Utah Power and Light.
After his schooling, Jack served in the army, stationed as a teacher in Germany for two years. He was very patriotic. He loved his country, the flag and all that America stands for.
Jack married his one and only sweetheart, Ilene Elva Peterson, in 1956. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed 66 years of happiness together.
Jack and Ilene raised their family in Holladay, Utah, then moved to Orangeville, Utah while employed with Utah Power and Light. They resided in Sandy, Utah for the past 30 years.
Jack had a brilliant mind. He could solve any mathematical equation, he was a student of science and had a passion for history and geography. He was always up for a good game of chess and enjoyed playing. He read the Salt Lake Tribune every day and could also solve the most advanced Sudoku and New York Times crossword puzzles. He was a learner through and through.
Jack was a jack-of-all-trades and master to many. He could fix anything and solve most problems. He was our go-to guy—always there to help.
Jack had the tenderest of hearts, which he poured out in abundance to anyone he came in contact with. He was a friend to all.
Jack loved music. He especially enjoyed listening to his daughter and grandson play the piano. He played the harmonica and clarinet, and had a very beautiful singing voice. Music always brought tears to his eyes.
Jack’s memory was like a steel trap. He could recall the smallest details and events in life, dating back to his boyhood. He was a wonderful storyteller. This was one of his many talents. His family would sit at his feet, anxious to hear more of his wise words.
He also enjoyed the outdoors and traveling with his family.
Jack had such a positive outlook on life. His talent for making hard things seem easy was a gift that drew people to him. He had a sense of humor that would light up any room on a dark day.
Jack was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved his Savior and patterned his life after Him. He served in the Draper, Utah temple, loved teaching the Elders Quorum in his ward and served as a counselor in the High Priest group. He loved to serve, and he served well. He was always there with a willing heart and helping hands. Jack was constantly looking for ways to serve and he jumped at the chance when the opportunity came.
Jack was a man of integrity—he was honest, loyal and hardworking. He was always committed to doing the right thing and was a man to be trusted.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Ilene; children, Shauna (Kenneth) Besendorfer, Brett (Melanie) Bradshaw, Juliann (Kenneth) Jensen, Nancee (Steven) Arnovick, Melanie (Kevin) Burt, Brenda (Allen) Scobee; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
