Jack Lynn Beckstead Jr. was born on March 3rd, 1954, to Jack Lynn Beckstead Sr. and Marion Joy Beckstead. He grew up in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City, Utah, where he developed lifelong friendships playing Little League baseball. He graduated from West High School in 1972 and went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hong Kong from 1973 to 1975.

The real adventures began when he married the love of his life, Karen Westover, in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 2nd, 1976, for time and all eternity. Together, Lynn and Karen built a life filled with faith, family, service, travel, friendship, and adventure.

Lynn earned two degrees from LDS Business College, which helped prepare him for a career he loved. In 1993, he founded Security National Mortgage. He achieved great success as President of the mortgage company and was honored to serve on the Security National Financial Board.

Lynn served faithfully in many Church callings, from Nursery leader to Bishop. In 2016, he and Karen had the blessing of serving a senior mission together in Hong Kong, returning to the place that held a special place in both of their hearts.

His lifelong passion for baseball took him to games in more than 28 different stadiums. One of his greatest baseball memories was watching his beloved Yankees play in the World Series. He also became a proficient golfer and played courses across the country and around the world. Yet, despite all the beautiful courses he visited, his favorite place to golf was at home with his friends of more than 60 years.

Lynn and Karen shared an incredible love of travel. Together, they visited 53 different countries and all 7 continents.

But his greatest accomplishment and most cherished legacy is his family.

Lynn was the proud father of five daughters and grandpa to 19 grandchildren. He loved being a girl dad. Nothing made him happier than having all his girls together. He was a devoted grandpa and spent a significant amount of time with his grandchildren cheering them on and supporting them in their endeavors.

Lynn lived a very full and vibrant life during his 72 years. He will be missed and celebrated by many. He felt both peace and excitement to accept his call home to his Father in Heaven on August 12th, 2026.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his five daughters, Sarah Warner (Russ), Shannon Bennett (Dave), Jill Castle (Kyle). Lisa Huston (Ryan), and Jess Robertson (Parker); and his 19 grandchildren: Caden, RJ Torman (Luke Torman), and Luke Warner; Madi, Ryan, Abby, Chloe, Katie, and Jake Bennet; Landon, Colter, Oaklee, and Tayla Castle; Gracie and Finley Huston; and Jack, Cora, Griffin, and Zoe Robertson.

His family is grateful for the many people who loved Lynn, supported him, served alongside him, laughed with him, traveled with him, played baseball and golf with him, and helped make his life so rich and memorable.

There will be an Evening Viewing held on Sunday, August 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, located at the LDS Church on 10124 South 1300 West South Jordan, Utah 84095. There will be an hour prior viewing on Monday, August 17th starting at 10:00 AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM at the Church Building. After the service, the Burial will be held at the Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 East 10600 South Sandy, Utah 84092 and will begin at 12:30 PM.
