Jack Reed Findlay, 90 of Sandy Utah, passed away peacefully, with his family around him on September 19, 2022.
Jack was born on November 13, 1931, to Albert Henry Findlay and Faye Walker Findlay in Panaca, Nevada. After graduating from Lincoln County High School in 1950, he served a church mission in the Texas-Louisiana mission (1952-1954) and developed many close friendships that remain strong even through today. He was invited a few years ago to attend the temple wedding for the granddaughter of one of these friends whom he baptized while on his mission. After his mission, he went on to Brigham Young University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
In 1957, Jack met Helen Fern Robison of Fillmore Utah, and they were sealed for time and all eternity September 7, 1957, in the Manti, Utah temple. Together, they raised 7 children and adopted 1 daughter.
Jack and Helen started their married life in southern California. Jack worked as a Certified Public Accountant for many years. His experience in the field prepared him for multiple business opportunities. Jack used his abilities to grow his education for finance and became certified as a fiduciary agent of insurance and investment portfolios.
Jack always had a joke to tell or a riddle to solve. He loved to use his brain and encourage others to do so as well. Jack always had a smile forming and a twinkle in his eye. Jack loved the social aspect of life and always had new friends wherever he was. Jack is certainly still using those skills and characteristics today.
Our dad served his family, church and community in any capacity he was asked. In fact, he often anticipated the need to help before being asked. He was very generous with his time and with whatever resource he could provide to help others. He was always able to provide an uplifting positive outlook on whatever challenge needed to be faced or solved and would never leave a problem or challenge before it was solved or completed. Jack’s favorite quote is “That which you persist in doing becomes easier – Not that the nature of the task has changed, but that your ability to do has increased.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents Albert and Faye Findlay, his siblings, Pete Findlay, Bert Findlay, Lee Findlay and Ellen Nesbitt and beloved daughter-in-law Kim Findlay. He is survived by his sister Enid Crownover, by his children, Craig (Sally) Findlay, David Findlay, Russell (Lynell) Findlay, Brian (Jennifer) Findlay, Kent (Anna K) Findlay, Gaylynn Hansen, Janette Findlay, and Leticia (Gary) Mikesell. His posterity includes 23 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; they will surely benefit from his persistent example of faith and good works.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 290 East 500 South, Fillmore, UT 84631 on October 8, 2022, at 12:00pm.
