With somber hearts, we announce the passing of Jacquelyn (Jackie) Nella Durrant Bowen. She joined her family in heaven the morning of June 7th at age of 93. She passed peacefully in her sleep in the Legacy House Assisted Living Facility in Taylorsville, Utah, leaving a far-reaching impact of love and laughter to countless friends and family around the world, including facility staff.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, her beloved daughter, Ruth Annette Bowen, her sisters Judy and Connie, and her half-brother, Bill. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Glen Harry Bowen, two sons, Glen Steven Bowen (Larene) and Dan Edward Bowen (Jennifer), one daughter, Barbara LaVonne McKeen (Fred), sister, Kathy Davis (Craig), and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Nationwide, it wasn't unusual to hear the name "Jackie" shouted out in recognition by dear friends, given that she was a chronic social butterfly. As she followed her husband Glen throughout his military career, she had the privilege of leaving a lasting impression in California, Alaska, Maryland, Guam, and Okinawa, as well as Utah.
She dedicated countless hours of her life to service; in the LDS church, she served in the Relief Society presidency, the Primary presidency, as a volunteer in the LDS McKay Dee Hospital branch, and as a worker at the Ogden temple. Even outside of church activity, she spent much of her time crocheting chemo caps and burial blankets for children and infants at McKay Dee Hospital.
She expressed a love for the world itself through her colored pencilwork. Flowers were her favorite to portray, but she rendered birds, lighthouses, and even the occasional person with the same ardent attention to detail. She was humble about her art, never daring to show ego, but she did take great pride in the ribbons she would win in local art showcases.
Her most recognizable hobby by far was her ever-growing collection of clocks. Big ones, small ones, digital, analogue, musical, and grandfather. Every wall, table, and desk had to have one. If there was one gift anyone could always count on her enjoying, it was a clock.
She left a lasting legacy and will be greatly missed. We will be honoring her life at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery at 6500 S, Redwood Rd. in West Jordan, UT, on Friday, June 12th, 2026, at 2pm. Visitation will begin at 1pm.
