Jaime Hernandez

April 27, 1970 — September 30, 2025

Jaime Hernandez was 55 years old. He died on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Salt Lake City, he was born on April 27, 1970, in Payson, Utah to Jesus and Zoila Hernandez (Izaguirre). He was the middle child of five siblings and grew up surrounded by a lot of love and family.

He was married for 20 years and divorced some years ago. Together they shared two adult children, Antonio Hernandez and Medajia Hernandez. He was also blessed with his grandchildren who brought him so much joy — Rickie, Divyne, and Amena, and step grandchildren, Alyah, Evalyn, and Diego.

Jaime was a jokester, always smiling, laughing and telling stories. He will be remembered for his kind eyes, his beautiful smile, and the laughter he brought everywhere he went. He always wanted to be the life of the party. He had a natural charisma that drew people to him, and he always said, “Everybody loves me” and it was true, we all loved him. He was so intelligent and believed in his own talent, he would always put his finger up and say, “I’m number one, I’m the best at everything I do.” Those who knew him would agree. He was extremely confident and brightened any room.

Jaime was a hardworking man; his passion was cabinetry and working on his home. He genuinely enjoyed what he did; he put his heart and soul into his work. He wanted everything perfect, a true perfectionist and extremely creative. He built cabinetry for many churches, buildings, custom homes, and his family. He was currently working on the cabinetry for the new Salt Lake Regional Athletic Complex soccer stadium. He was proud of everything he built, he would show you his projects with a big smile. He founded Artista Wood Works, building stunning cabinetry for homes and businesses with unique craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Beyond woodworking, Jaime was passionate about cars, restoring and building many cars, including a 1964 Impala featured in Lowrider Magazine, which is not easy to be on the front page and have a three page story about him building his car from the frame to completion. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his own home, building it exactly as he envisioned and filling it with the things he loved. Every wall, every window, every light fixture, cabinet, and detail he sketched and designed what he wanted his home to be. He worked many hours and months until his home was completed. With an incredible eye for design, he poured his heart and soul into every project he touched.

Jaime loved the finer things in life, jewelry, style, and all that was bling bling and glamorous. He loved his big chains with a cross and his beautiful collection of watches. But at his core, he was gentle, sweet, and playful. He always laughed and it was contagious. His children were his greatest pride and joy; he loved them and was very very proud of them. He loved his grandchildren greatly and was excited to see them grow up. He would frequently talk to his young nephews and nieces about their life; he was so interested in what they were doing. He took interest in everyone around him and had a genuine concern for them. Most of all, he loved his family deeply, we say he was mom’s favorite, and he knew it. He would sometimes say, don’t be jealous mom loves me.

Jaime, “Jaimito” we will forever love you and deeply miss you. Enjoy paradise in heaven, don’t try to build cabinets up there. Relax!

He is survived by his son Antonio, daughter Medajia, Mother Zoila, and siblings Norma, Jesus, Nancy, and David (Jessica). He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Hernandez, nephew Jesus Jr. Hernandez, and niece Jasmine Aguila.
