James Lewis Barber "Bud"

February 28, 1928 — November 9, 2012

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, at St. Marks Hospital following conditions incident to age and an inadvertent fall. Born February 28, 1928, in Syracuse, Utah to Riley and Vera Barber. He served in the Eastern States Mission for the LDS church. Jim attended the University of Utah and served in the Air Force in Korea. He married Gwen Lewis on October 10, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked as wholesale furniture rep. James served in a wide variety of positions in the LDS Church and was an exemplary priesthood holder. He always had his scriptures close by and enjoyed gospel discussions. Jim had a variety of interests and hobbies, but particularly enjoyed western culture and Americana. He loved to share faith promoting stories, a clever insight or a humorous anecdote. He was man of trust and integrity. Survived by his wife Gwen, daughters: Connie (Ken) Whitney, Linda (Brent) Nokleby, Sandra (Jerry) Hutchins, Sister, Alice Martinson and 11 grandchildren. Viewing held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S 2300 E, Sunday, November 11 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 12 at 11:00a.m. A viewing prior to the service from 9:45-10:45am at the Olympus Hills Chapel, 4176 S Adonis Dr. (3930 E).
