James Raymond Davis

April 15, 1949 — September 19, 2025

James Raymond Davis, 76, of Saratoga Springs Utah, formerly a resident of Coon Rapids Minnesota where he served as a deputy sheriff in Anoka County for 23 years, passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 15th, 1949, in Fort Riley, Kansas to Raymond Ross Davis and Dorothy Alice Terhune.

James lived a vibrant life filled with fishing, camping, traveling, football, and most important to him spending his time with his family. He was known for his love for his family and was always good for a joke. He served his country during the Vietnam war as a 35N2H Aviation flight control repairman with the 101st Airborne, 159th Aviation Brigade, Charlie Company (Varsity). After that he made his career as a law enforcement officer for Anoka County, and was a member of the SWAT team, and taught DARE to children. His legacy will live on through the impact he had on children as a DARE officer, his time serving the Lord as a temple worker, and through his many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

James is survived by his eternal beauty Evelyn Davis, His children, Amy (Elle), Matthew (Leah), Stephen (Jenn), Timothy, Melinda (Salome), Heidi (Dale), Andrew (Kara), and Paul, his 29 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents Ray and Dorothy.

He touched many hearts in his 76 years on this earth. He created a monumental legacy to carry on his name. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all of those who were blessed to know him.

A funeral service will be held at 10055 S State ST, Sandy, Utah on October 4th, 2025, at 4:00 pm, with a viewing beforehand from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Fri, Oct 3, 2025.
