James Edward “Jamie” Davis Jr., 62, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, following a brief but courageous battle with Stage 4 cancer. He was born on October 15, 1963, at Jewish Memorial Hospital in New York City to James Edward Davis Sr. and Alma Davis.
Jamie was raised in Queens, New York, in Rochdale Village, where he built lifelong memories with family and friends. Growing up, he spent much of his time with cousins and also cherished time in Wilmington, North Carolina, with his great-grandparents and extended family. Those experiences created deep family bonds and stories he carried with him throughout his life.
Jamie graduated from Springfield Gardens High School and began working in New York City before discovering his lifelong career as a truck driver. For nearly 30 years, he traveled highways across the country, working for many companies and seeing places that shaped his life in meaningful ways. While traveling through Utah, Jamie was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized on January 5, 2002, a decision that became an important part of his life and faith journey.
In 2007, while traveling through California, another truck driver and his wife encouraged Jamie to call their friend, April. After six months of phone conversations, Jamie and April finally met in person, and the connection was undeniable. A year later, they were married and began building a beautiful life together in West Jordan, Utah.
Jamie and April were blessed with three beloved children: Alexander James Davis, born May 1, 2010; Brayden Gage Davis, adopted May 19, 2010; and Geneva Mae Davis, born May 17, 2012. Jamie was a devoted husband and loving father who treasured every moment with his family. He especially loved family vacations and creating memories together. Some of his favorite places were Wilmington, North Carolina; Maui, Hawaii; and Destin, Florida.
Jamie will be remembered for his strength, kindness, faith, dedication to his family, and the countless miles he drove providing for those he loved. His life touched many people across the country, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Jamie is survived by his loving wife, April Workman Davis; his children, Brayden Davis, Alexander Davis, and Geneva Davis; his mother, Alma Davis; his father-in-law, Ross Workman; his siblings, Kelly Greenidge (Kendal), Shawn Davis (Marie), Shonda Brown (Charlie), and Veronica Davis; his grandmother, Evelyn Davis; and many cherished in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Davis Sr., his mother-in-law, Judy Workman, and his grandparents, Alexander & Mae Lightbourne.
Though his time here ended too soon, Jamie’s love, faith, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Huntsman at Home Hospice, especially Tami, for their kindness, comfort, and dedicated care.
They would also like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, with special appreciation to Dr. Jessica Allen and Etienne, for their exceptional care, support, and compassion throughout this journey.
