James Francis Hennek

November 21, 1937 — July 16, 2013

Our beloved Jimmy returned to live with our Heavenly Father on July 16, 2013. Sadly he unexpectedly died of a massive heart attack. Born November 21, 1937 in Rawlins, Wyoming to James Francis Hennek and Margaret Hortin Hennek. He graduated from Rawlins High School in 1956 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army, serving honorably from 1964-1966. Jim graduated from SLCC in 1975 majoring in Physical Science. He worked for Cazier Excavating for 34 years as an Equipment Superintendent retiring in 2012 and was known for his honesty and amazing work ethic. Jimmy was known by those around him as a gentle giant; extremely thoughtful and generous always helping others, full of compassion and most of all loving and patient. Jim always loved the outdoors - snowmobiling, fishing, boating, waterskiing, camping and loved spending time at his trailer in St. George. Jim was former Vice President of the Utah Snowmobile Association and was instrumental in getting the Utah Statewide Great Western Trail system implemented. The light in his life were his grandchildren and his best buddy Sam, to whom he devoted countless hours and loved immensely. He married LaRae Greenwell Burnett on November 19, 1988. Together they shared 25 wonderful years.

Jim is survived by his wife, LaRae; 3 stepchildren, Christy (Kirk) Harns, Brad Burnett, Kim (Alex) Burnett-Valdez; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 soon to be great granddaughter; two sisters, Bobby Amos and Ilene Hall. Preceded in death by both parents and sister, Kate Roberts. He is also survived by many very close wonderful friends and co-workers.
