James “Jim” Robin Webb

Jim was born in August of 1946 to Odell and Una Elouise Adkins Webb in Salt Lake City. He died unexpectedly in his home on Friday, August 4, 2023. He grew up in Salt Lake City and loved to tell stories about his adventures hiking and fishing all over the valley. He graduated from Granite High School in 1964.
After high school he served his mission to New Zealand. He loved the people there and returned with his wife twice to visit. He desperately wanted to go back again one more time. Jim also served in Vietnam for 366 days. He always made sure to tell us he was there for that extra day.
Jim loved river trips and talked about those trips all the time. Jim met his future bride, Carolyn Standing, while on a river trip. It took some incredible luck to bring them back together, but Heavenly Father knew what he was doing and helped make that happen. They married for Time and All Eternity in March 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Jim was a collector of friends. He knew people everywhere and was so good at remembering names and other details. He could be at a pay phone in the middle of nowhere and would know the person in line in front of him. He was just that way. He was friends with everyone and would reach out to people from years and years ago and it was as if no time passed. He had the ability to make everyone feel so loved and cared for.
Jim worked many jobs throughout his life. He often worked multiple jobs to help support our family. Among these were Auerbach’s, the Salt Palace, the Utah State Fair, and Modern Display where he retired in 2012 after 34 years.
He is survived by his Wife Carolyn, his daughters Elizabeth Webb, Catherine Webb, and Caroline (Hyrum) Anderson, as well as his grandchildren Rachel, Sarah, Jonathan, and Matthew Anderson. Jim is also survived by his sister Talma Lee (Michael) Whiting, and his mother-in-law Marie Hogan Standing as well as numerous other extended family members. Preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Barclay Jack Standing.
Jim was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings throughout the years including Scout Master, Elders Quorum President, Sunday School Teacher, and Bishop. At the time of his death, he was serving as a member of the High Council assigned to the Brighton Branch.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Memorial Estates at 3115 Bengal Blvd in Cottonwood Heights. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 10:00 to 11:00 am and a funeral will follow at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3455 Bengal Blvd in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Jim will be buried in Bountiful at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, next to his father-in-law.
