James Glenn Swensen passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2014.
James was born in St. Anthony, Idaho to Gladys Odetta Hunter and James Glen Swensen. He married Melba Anne Peterson in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 5, 1945.
James was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. He traveled extensively in his career with the United States Air Force, serving in the Pacific Theatre in WWII, and later as a corporate pilot, making friends all over the world. He was a devoted husband and father and was loved by all who came to know him.
He is survived by his children; James Jr. (Cynthia), Anne (Sam Alba), and Kathleen (Doug) Andrews; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. The family wishes to express appreciation for the kind and attentive care James received from the caregivers with Aspen Senior Care during his final illness; and especially for the loving care Dad and Mom received from their long-term helper, Carmen Marcelo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Primary Children's Medical Center.
