Janet Christensen Ferre Grimes, 92, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024 in Bountiful Utah. She was born on May 21, 1931 to Merlin G. and Era Christensen. She was the second of four siblings. She spent her early years on a dry farm in Mount Pleasant, Utah. At age 12 the family moved to Salt Lake City.
She attended South High School where she met Robert Kearns Ferre. They were married a short time after graduation in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were blessed with four children, Kathy Dibble and Jill Birrell (both deceased) LeeAnn Prince and Deven Ferre (Virleen).
Robert was taken in an auto accident at age 30 and Janet raised her 4 children by herself. She married Frank B. Grimes in 1966 and the family moved to Bountiful. Frank passed away in 1998. Janet was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints where she served faithfully in many leadership positions. She enjoyed working at Z.C.M.I for many years.
Janet loved spring flowers, gardening, sweets of any kind, babies, new clothes, but nothing more than her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, her 15th great grandchild is expected next month.
Friends and family may gather for a viewing on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at her LDS Ward, 115 East Wicker Lane, Bountiful. A funeral service for Janet will be on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray. She will be laid to rest following the service at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy.
