Jeanne M. Nielson

Jeanne McCune Nielson, aged 90, passed away on September 19, 2026, in SLC, UT. She was born on December 24, 1935, in Richfield, UT, to Maxine Pearl Day and Patrick Walter McCune. She married Ivie J. Nielson on August 14, 1962.

Jeanne enjoyed playing piano, music, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, needlework, crochet, and genealogy.

Jeanne had a Bachelor's degree from BYU in Education, with reading and library science endorsements. She was active in her LDS Ward, playing piano for the choir, for Primary, and for many musical numbers. She went on numerous temple tours through the entire country.  She loved her family and friends very much.

She is survived by a son Robert Gary Nielson; a daughter Stephanie Nielson Lay (Howard Troy Lay); grandsons Ryan Irving Nielson (grandson), Zackary Ray Nielson (grandson), and a daughter-in-law, Darci Taylor Nielson.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ivie J. Nielson.

Viewings will be held on September 29, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive, Holladay, UT 84117. Another viewing will be held at the Butler West Stake Center, on September 30, 2026, at 1845 E. 7200 S., SLC, UT 84121 from 9:30 to 10:45 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Memorial Holladay Cemetery, 4900 S. Memory Lane, Holladay, UT 84117.
