In Loving Memory of Jeffrey Harper Anderson April 11, 1946 – June 25, 2025
It is with full, yet heavy, hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Harper Anderson at the age of 79, due to complications related to cancer. We are deeply moved by his fortitude and the valiant way he fought until the end.
Jeff was the baby of the family, born on April 11, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arvel and Cora Anderson. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout at a young age. He graduated from Granite High School and thoroughly enjoyed planning and reconnecting at many class reunions, most recently attending his 60th.
After high school, Jeff joined the National Guard with his older brother Dusty. Their stories from that time were always a favorite to hear. Following basic training, Jeff had the opportunity to serve the people of France for two and a half years as a missionary for the LDS Church, a time he treasured.
Jeff was lucky enough to meet the love of his life, Linda Gay Seddon, during their elementary school days at Millcreek Elementary. They dated throughout high school and married on April 1, 1969 - recently celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. Together, they raised three children and were blessed with nine grandchildren, who became the pride and joy of “Papa.”
Over the years, Jeff held many careers - each one meaningful in its own way. A particularly fun chapter was his time as a Top 40 DJ “Andy Jefferson” at KLO 1430. He also enjoyed his time working for the railroad with Union Pacific and Utah Railway, and later joined Job Service, which eventually led to his final role as a Power Broker at UAMPS.
In retirement, Jeff found joy in traveling, golfing, puzzles, music, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than cheering them on and being involved in their lives. He also had a deep love of service and gave generously of his time. Among his greatest honors were his church callings, especially serving as Bishop, High Councilman, and Stake Clerk.
Jeff requested no “fluffy” obituary full of praise - only the facts. But the fact is, he was a faithful, kind, patient, and truly wonderful man. He had a rare gift for making people feel instantly loved and seen. His personal motto was also his blood type: “B Positive.” He was that and so much more. His loss leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Arvel S. and Cora H. Anderson; his brother, Stuart “Dusty”; and sister, Sheryl Vicchrilli. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda Anderson; sons Erik and Damon (Aly); daughter Natalie (Gavin) Harris; grandchildren Levi, Khristian, Morgan, Walker, Grayson, Diezel, Jett, Aliyah, and Hawk; sister-in-laws Therryl Anderson and Maureen Seddon; and many cherished nieces and nephews
A viewing will be held at the Casa Ward on Tuesday, July 1st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m.on Wednesday, July 2nd, at the Casa Ward, 7699 South Chad Street, Midvale, Utah.
Jeff had a servant’s heart. In lieu of flowers, please honor his memory by donating your time or offering an act of service to others or to your favorite cause. And when life gets tough, remember Jeff’s words: “Be Positive.”
