Jeffrey Mark Black passed away 7 February 2009 after a valiant bout with leukemia. Jeffrey was born 21 May 1951 in Monticello, Utah to Ardell Palmer Black and Edwin Zemira Black. His youth was spent in Monticello and Blanding UT. He graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding and attended Dixie College in St George, UT. While in college he met his sweetheart, Jeri Glaus. They were married June 5, 1972 and were sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple on December 6, 1976. This loving couple raised four wonderful children: Andrea (Chris) Pearce, Jennifer (Josh) Randall, Rachel (Jake) Alldredge, and Benjamin (Dionna) Black. They blessed their parents with nine beautiful grandchildren. Jeffrey worked for Salt Lake County Plat Department as a draftsman, which he enjoyed for many years. He loved and embraced the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved BYU football and requested burial in the Cougar Stadium. Jeffrey remembered every joke he heard or read and they were always better by his re-telling. Jeffrey loved yard work and spent hundreds of hours caring for his yard and garden. Jeffrey never hesitated to give a hug. His hugs were the quintessence of love. Jeffrey is survived by his aforementioned wife, children, grandchildren, and his ninety six year old mother, Ardell Palmer Black Ostergaard and siblings, Palmer (Cynthia) Black, Naida (Clisbee) Black, Tim (Gail) Black, Ted (Lynda) Black. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Zemira Black, and siblings, Nancy Ardith Black and EdLenna (Ted) Miller. Jeffrey's family would like to send a very special thank you and hug to the doctors and nursing staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. We appreciate their hard work, commitment, and love. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 12, 2009, 11:00am at the Brighton 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 2300 East Bengal Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to the services.
