Jennie Patricia “Pat” Shiner Berensen

Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, & great-great grandmother Jennie Patricia Shiner Berensen, passed away on September 20, 2023 at the age of 88.

“Pat” was born on March 7, 1935 in Price, Utah to George Alred Shiner and Clara Dale Boyack. After high school, she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company where she was a supervisor, trainer and relief chief operator before she was married. She also worked in the Salt Lake and Oakland telephone offices. She married Carlyle Charles Berensen on March 23, 1957 and they were later sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS temple on June 5, 1964.

Pat was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints and served in many callings and all of the church auxiliaries including Genealogy, Mother Education, Relief Society Spiritual Living, Young Womens, Primary, & Sunday School. She also served in the Relief Society and Young Womens Presidencies. She also served as Junior Sunday School coordinator, Stake Sunday School Coordinator, and Dance Director in MIA.

Pat and her husband, Carlyle, worked for four years on German Latin Name Extraction, and served together in four family history centers. Pat and Carlyle served in the Arizona Phoenix Mission together. Upon their return, they were called as Stake Missionaries, and Pat was called as the Stake Family History Consultant.

She and Carl loved cooking and decorating for the family on special holidays. They had family gatherings often with fun games, good food, and so much fun.

They were blessed with three children Debra Ann (Bateman), Gregory Carl, & Scott Richard (Kayleen), nine grandchildren; Cristina (Andy), Richard (Britney), Tiffini (Bob), Tanna, Tyler (Sarah), Jennessa (Richard), Kassandra, Justin, & Natasha. 14 great-grandchildren; Vanessa (Kolby), Alyssa, Gabriel (Jessica), Malakai, Zahara, Zachary, Zoey, Richard, Aurora, Sebastian, Joseph, Milo, Alaia, & Namira. Also two great-great grandchildren; Kliff & Vaughan.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brother Eddie, sisters Diane Worley (Lee), and Sue Ann Horvath (Jim), grandson Richard Bateman, and great-grandson Clayton Garvis.

She will be so missed.
