Jerry D. Axtman

June 12, 1944 — September 23, 2024

Murray, Utah

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the loss of Jerry D. Axtman, 80. She passed peacefully in her home, in Murray, UT, on Sept 23rd surrounded by her loving family.

Jerry was born on June 12, 1944 in Fullerton, CA. Her family later moved to Vale, OR, where she grew up and graduated high school. At 19, while visiting her sisters during summer in Spokane, WA, she met the love of her life, Jon Axtman, Sr. That same night she told her sister Judy, “That’s him! That’s who I’m gonna marry.”

On July 3, 1965 they got married and started their lives together. They had three children and eventually settled down in Murray Utah. Jerry took pride and joy in creating a nurturing home filled with love, warmth and compassion for her family. Her children grew up knowing the depths of her love, and in time, her grandchildren got to bask in the light of that love as well.

Jerry’s legacy continues through her 3 surviving children, Kari (Fred) Johnston, Jon M (Pattie) Axtman Jr, and Chris (Karen) Axtman, as well as 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her beloved Chico. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jon Axtman Sr., her parents Merle and Norma Rayne, her sister Mary Ann, her twin sister Judy, and her cherished little Chica.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Murray City Cemetery; 5490 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
