Jessie (Jesus) Torres Nieves, who was born on October 15, 1942, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and came to Salt Lake City on Aug 13, 1955, died October 29, 2025. Jessie was preceded in death by his ex-wife Rosie, whom he never stopped loving and caring about, his ex-wife Betty Nieves, his half-sister Alice, and his granddaughter Chantel. He is survived by his two sons, Paul (Luz) and Norman (Kari), his sisters Rachel and Teresa, and his brother Michael, stepchildren with Rosie (Victoria and David), and ex-wife Lucy (Stepsons Eddie and Maurice), grandchildren Vanessa (Corey), Hallie, Emilee, Paul, and Savana (Anthony), and great-grandchildren Zeke, Mason, Cora, and Isaac.
Jessie was a man of conviction and strong faith. He worked for many years at the gas company and later worked at Hill Air Force Base. His favorite pastime was being in the mountains, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed gambling in Wendover. In later years, he loved watching old-time western movies and spending time with his son Norman, who got the opportunity to take him to Wendover for one last game of blackjack.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
