It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother, Joan Cochrane Hansen, who departed this life peacefully on June 1, 2026, after a life marked by courage and grace.
Joan was the cherished daughter of James and Sarah Cochrane. She was born on April 5, 1957, in Belfast, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 with her father James, three sisters (Pat, Margaret and Lynn) and her two brothers (Jim and Micheal).
Joan's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy of family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion, carried on by her surviving family: her children Jeffrey, Lisa, Corey (Heather), Bret, Mark, Emily (Bobby) and her adoring grandchildren Preston, Taylor, Kenzi, Marissa, Alexis, Rylee, Payslee and Charley.
Joan was a tireless life time provider for her family. She worked hard for her children and celebrated her grandchildren at every opportunity.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joan was a beacon of kindness and faith within her community. Her hobbies were crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were often shared with loved ones, reading, watching a good movie or a home improvement show. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, relishing in the fun times and creating memories that would last forever.
Known for her delectable baked treats, Joan found happiness in sharing the comforts of home with others. Joan was renowned for her selflessness and willingness to help anyone who asked. Whether offering sage advice or lending a hand, she was a steadfast friend and confidant, ever ready to support those she loved. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, and many caretakers who treasured Joan throughout her life especially in the final years.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Sarah, sister Pat, her dear aunt Mary Lynn, and her beloved grandson, Jayden.
