John Behunin

April 25, 1958 — March 26, 2026

John William Behunin was born in Salt Lake City on April 25th, 1958 to Rhoda Daphne Lewis and William Clyde Behunin. John was the 5th child in a family of 6 children. He passed away in Salt Lake City on March 26th, 2026 at the age of 67.

John is survived by sisters, Sarah Jane Richardson, Sharon Jean Lee (Tyler) and brothers, Wendell Clyde Behunin (Cindy), Roland Lewis Behunin (Kristi), and Edward Albert Behunin (DeeAnn). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, William and Rhoda Behunin, and brother-in-law William (Billy) Richardson.

When John was young, he was a happy child, and he especially enjoyed playing with his siblings outside in “the digging place”. He loved his family and thought it was hilarious that his cousins called him “Canana Banana”. As he grew and throughout the remainder of his life, he loved watching cartoons and reading comic books, with Archie Comics being one of his favorites. John graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1976, where he drew comics for the high school newspaper.

John was a faithful member of the LDS church and during his life he attended Primary, Scouts, Young Men's and advanced in the Priesthood. He always tried to follow the teachings of Christ and was honest in his dealings with others. John strived to support the leaders in his Ward and the Church.

John was a kind and thoughtful person, trying to help others whenever he could. He looked for ways to show random acts of kindness. Whether it was buying bibles to donate to the nursing home where his mother had passed away, or spending many hours cutting coupons and sending them to his family members and friends. He was always on the lookout for things that he could give to others that he knew they could use, like magazines, pictures, or first aid kits. John had many friends that he enjoyed spending time with.

John endured many struggles and hardships during his life, and sometimes the attempted remedies to help him added to those hardships. Even with those difficulties, he lived his life with faith in our Heavenly Father and support from his doctors, friends, and family members. John was a good person, devoted, loyal, trustworthy, and he will be missed by all.
