John Mckay Anderson

June 18, 1936 — September 9, 2010

Problem Solver

McKay passed away suddenly on September 9, 2010. The fifth of six children, he was born June 18, 1936 to Joseph Lyman Anderson and Violet Fern Wilkinson Anderson. McKay grew up in Richfield, Utah, where he played basketball and the saxophone, competed in track, and taught swimming. He married his hometown sweetheart, Denise Anderson, on August 3, 1962 in the St. George Temple. A U. of U. graduate, McKay was chief engineer at Hercules Incorporated. McKay loved flowers, gardening, and spending time outdoors in the mountains. He served many years in the Boy Scouts and in the Sons of Utah Pioneers. He also served faithfully in many other callings in the LDS Church. Above all, he was a truly devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

McKay was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Verde, his brother-in-law Bud, his sisters-in-law, Marlene and Diesta, and niece Melanie. McKay will be sorely missed by his wife, Denise; children and grandchildren, Cynthia, Naobumi, Aimee and Erika Ozeki; Greg, Christy, Sarah, Jhon, Seth, Spencer, Abby, and Rebekah Anderson; Melissa, Chad, Mikelle, Jadon, Mason, and Cierrah Scholes; siblings Max Anderson (Nancy), Joyce Albrect, Garn Anderson (Angie), and Craig Anderson (Karen); sister-in-law, Anita Anderson; loved ones Ken Christiansen and Antuko, Rossana, David, Denise, Camilla, and Jose Alarcon as well as many other dear family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 4407 Fortuna Way. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Internment: Wasatch Lawn Cemetery. We encourage those with messages and stories to share with the family to send them to McKay's page on www.holbrookmortuary.com.
