John Asel Nuttall stepped out of this life and into eternity on May 24, 2011 at home. He was born July 10, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Asel and Edith Nuttall.
He grew up in Salt Lake City and Hunter, graduating from Granite High School in 1947. On his 18th birthday he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After an honorable discharge he served six more years in the reserve as a Hospital Corpsman. After honorably serving his country he went to work for Kennecott, they sent him to the University of Utah to become a safety engineer. He also worked for Eimco and retired from Hercules as a Bio-Environmental Safety Engineer in 1994.
He married his first wife Shirley in 1953. They had three children, Vicki Lee Morrill (Kay,deceased), John Mark, and Pennie (Barry) Rich. Shirley preceded him in death in 1982. He Married his second wife, Traudi, and helped raise her three children, Tom Potter, Troy Potter, and Tina (Brandon) Harward. John and Traudi later divorced.
He married DeAun Saddler in 2000. She had six children, 1 daughter and 5 sons, Melanie (Todd) Brown, Ron (Debbie) Hyatt, John-deceased, Brett (Melissa) Saddler, Ryan (Emily) Saddler, and Bobby Saddler. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 siblings, Beverly (Roy) Neilson, Dick (Norma) Nuttall, and Carolyn (Larry) Jellinich. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beulah.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 12 Noon at Oquirrh 7th Ward, 6567 South Wakefield Way (6035 West). Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening May 31, 2011 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and also at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:30am to 11:40am prior to services.
