John Rodney Madsen

December 13, 1938 — December 27, 2022

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, 84, passed away December 27, 2022 in Sandy, UT.  John Rodney (Rod) was born on December 13, 1938 in Nephi, Utah to LaMar Soren and Veneta Hannah Williams Madsen, the fourth of eight children. He married Janice Valate Anderson on October 10, 1958 in Salt Lake City, UT. She passed away on November 11, 1979. He later married Mary Beth Harward Madsen on October 15, 1982 in Jackson, WY.
They spent the last 35 years of his life in Koosharem, UT with the town and people they fell in love with.  He was happiest on Monroe Mountain, fishing, hunting or being outdoors with his wife by his side and family around him. He worked in the sheet metal industry for 30 years. He was a friend to everyone he met and loved unconditionally.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Harward Madsen, his daughter Sandy (John) Padilla, son Gary (Sharilyn) Madsen, son Dave Madsen, son Lance (Krista, deceased) Madsen, son Jeffery (Wendy) Perkins, son Randy (Tracie) Perkins, daughter Cheryl Lynn (Ryan) Nielsen, and  22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
We would especially like to share our appreciation to Beth Madsen, for all of the love, care, and support she provided to Rod.  She was his constant companion, and their love is an example to all of us.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Rod on Friday, January 13th, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be held in the cultural hall at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 10124 S 1300 W, South Jordan, UT 84095 (on 1300 West directly North of the Jordan River Temple).
