John Stephen Turner Jr.

John Stephen Turner, Jr. passed away on June 30, 2022 in Tucson, Arizona. He fought a long battle with cancer. He was 75 years old.
John was born in Vancouver, Washington, on July 24, 1946, to Maxine Carol Louise Peter and John Stephen Turner, Sr.
He graduated from Murray High School and continued his education to include a Bachelor and two Master’s Degrees. John worked as a teacher and loved coaching speech and debate for a number of schools over 30+ years. He was a 4 Diamond member, an elite achievement in debate and only the 99th recipient to ever receive this national award. Additionally, John enjoyed playing and coaching baseball/softball, gardening, and cooking. He loved his time working for the Seattle Mariners organization.
John genuinely loved playing and visiting with his children and grandchildren. He was interested in their achievements and trials. He was also actively involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in many different avenues, including being a Temple Worker, which he treasured.
John made Tucson his home for the last two years, and the prior 20+ years were in Washington State.
John is survived by four sons and one daughter. David, Quenette, Donald, Jeremy (Elizabeth), Jeffrey (Emily), 12 grandchildren, Mitchell, Corbin, Adeline, Lilly, Mara, Micah, Ryan, Tyler, Taylor, Parker, Bryson, and Brooklyn; 4 great-grand children and 13 brothers and sisters (spouses), and mother Audrey Fowles.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Peter; father, John Stephen Turner, Sr.; father, Ken Fowles; and sister, Carol (Terry) McCleary.
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 16th, 2022. All services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary at 6500 S. Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT, 84123. Viewing from 12:00-2:00 PM MDT; Service at 2:00-3:00 PM MDT; and Burial at 3:00 PM MDT.Service Information
