John Clark Thomas

John Clark Thomas, age 89, passed away May 31, 2008 in Holladay, Utah. Born July 31, 1918 in Paradise, Utah to John Joseph and Ada Luella Jensen Thomas. Married Lillymae Wilkin on October 26, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later sealed on June 21, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mae passed away September 8, 1991. They were married 56 years. Clark was in the Army during WWII honorably serving in the Philippines. After the war he was part of the Army of Occupation in Japan. He returned from the war to his wife and two daughters and started his own business as a Painting and Paperhanging Contractor. He had many faithful customers who appreciated him for his honesty and skill. Clark enjoyed fishing and we enjoyed many family fishing trips. He was also a long time bowler, starting as a pin setter in his teens. As he grew older, he enjoyed bowling in tournaments with his friends. He was still bowling at age 86. Clark was known for his kind and gentle nature. After Mae passed away, he lovingly cared for his youngest daughter, Barbara during her long illness. The last two years while he has been ill himself, he was appreciative of any service given him, always being sure to say "thank you". Survived by daughter, Kathleen (Evron) Knorr; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 sisters; one son, John Richard; two daughters, Colleen Schilling and Barbara Munson; 2 grandsons. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 9, 2008, 11:00am at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family from 9:45 to 10:45am prior to services.
