John Nichols Whipple

March 28, 1945 — December 22, 2023

Salt Lake City

Our beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Uncle John Nichols Whipple peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on December 22, 2023, in his home in Murray, Utah.  He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 28, 1945, to John Newton Whipple and Verna Ellen Nichols Whipple.  He married the love of his life, Linda Drysdale on June 17, 1970, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on January 12, 1973.  He was a proud member of the River 5th Ward in Murray and was shown so much love from his ward members as was his lovely bride.

He worked at the Newspaper Agency Corporation as a Press Journeyman for 39 years. He worked many other jobs at once not just for his family, but also for the love of the people he worked with and those he interacted with. His lifelong hard work and determination to make ends meet for his large family did not fall short form being impeccable. One of the greatest joys and accomplishments was being an Elementary School Crossing Guard for over 32 years.  The smiles he received from both the parents and kids kept him motivated and happy through many years.  He was a very loving and dedicated Husband and Father.  His friendly personality was contagious; making friends with everyone he met.

His hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.  He spent countless hours and many years collecting cans. He would later buy many things that he would share with family and friends.  He has always had a great love for his many dogs, birds, fish, and even a turtle or two.

He is survived by 7 children, his daughter Jenn (Chuck), his sons Todd (Alicia), Jason, Andrew (Vanessa), Justin, Jeremy (Stephanie), Ryan (Jenny). His grandchildren: Sage, Tristan (Maddie), Dakota, Katie, Rylee, Aidan, Alyssa, Connor, Nikki, Boston, Mckayla, Jayden, Cameron, and Finlee.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his beloved wife Linda, his son Trent, his daughter Katherine, his sister Cleo.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, beginning at 2pm and resuming for the graveside dedication and burial at 3:00 pm.  There will be a family only viewing prior to the services. Memorial Mountain View Mortuary 3115 Bengal Blvd Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
