Johnny David Salazar Senior

February 1, 1947 — March 23, 2023

A bright shining star was born on February 1st, 1947 to Daniel Salazar Sr. and Helen Vigil Salazar. He married his lovely bride, Bennie Manuelita Cordova on May 25th, 1968. Together they had three children over the course of their 55 year marriage. Those children had their 5 Grandchildren. His family grew richer with additions, when his Grandchildren had his 7 Great Grandchildren. He loved all of his family to the moon and the stars.
As a proud Veteran, he served two tours for our country during the Vietnam War. In this case, he was our hero in more ways than just one. Whenever he wore his Veteran hat, he would be beaming with pride.
Johnny had a love for family, food, and Superbowl parties. John was a Chef at the Hotel Utah and proud member of the Local 568. A good time singing, laughing and a full belly would be had if you were in his presence. His fishing trips even ended with one of the best meals you ever had, even if he “got skunked.” Because he had a whole meal in his cooler, or he knew the best restaurant to go and eat. He loved to go deer hunting, waking up before the crack of dawn, filling up multiple coolers wearing his warmest, brightest, orange sweater to venture out into the wild blue yonder. As his family we all have a great love for nature because of these memories. We will continue to tell stories of him while we celebrate him in nature, the kitchen and every single day.
Please join us in celebrating his life at Redwood Memorial Estates on April 3rd, 2023, for his viewing from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow afterward. A viewing will also be held, Tuesday, April 4, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m.  He will be laid to rest following services beside many loved ones who have shown him the way into heaven. We will be forever wishing on your bright evening star.
