Johnny Hovat was born September 5, 1957 in Salt Lake City, UT to Betty Gentry and Rudy Hovat. He passed away on September 23, 2012 with his family by his side. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman and couldn't wait to go fishing and hunting with his son and grandson. He knew the true meaning of "roughing it" - a loaf of bread, butter, grill and if hopefully you caught your dinner, or you went to bed hungry. He especially loved to fish at Matt Warner Lake. He loved wildlife and the mountains any time of the year just to get away. Johnny was a true Denver Bronco fan and he passed it along to his whole family, including his temper. He was excellent welder- that was his life career. His greatest love of all was for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children, John Keith Hovat (Jill) and Jennifer Elizabeth Hovat; grandsons Ty Grant; Connor Keith and grandaughter, Madison Anne. He is also survived by his brothers Wes and Gerald and siser Heidi. Preceeded in death by his parents, sister Faye Jean and best friend, Jamie Ashmore. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 am at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South , 2300 East, SLC. UT. Messages to the family may be posted at www.holbrookmortuary.com. "We'll remember the good times and try not to be sad but saying goodbye still hurts so bad. We love you, daddy."
