Jon C. Heaton passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025. His family is heartbroken. General Jon Conan Heaton was born on August 31, 1942, in Brigham City, Utah. The 7th of 8 children born to Anna Jane Lundberg Heaton and Harley Leora Heaton. Jon was an incredibly intelligent young man who was able to earn full scholarships to support his educational pursuits, first at CU Boulder, where he met Penelope Bourquin Heaton who became his wife of 28 years and the mother of his children, and later at Vanderbilt University where he graduated with high honors "the Order of the Coif". However successful, he was humble and never wanted recognition for his endeavors. Jon loved many things with all of his heart and was often choking back tears as he spoke sentiments about his deep feelings for his loved ones. His dogs were always considered part of his family, and he had a deep appreciation for wildlife. He loved spending time at Bear Lake and in other natural settings throughout all stages of his life. He was often helping others in need. He was deeply patriotic and served his country in the US Air Force as Commander of the 191st Air Refueling Squadron and later as assistant Adjutant General for Air National Guard Utah. He worked as a successful real estate attorney from 1972 through 2019. Jon is preceded in death by his eldest son John Patrick "Rick", six of his siblings and his parents. He is survived by his wife Joanne Reinertson Heaton, his brother Joel Heaton, his children Tim, Scott, Jennifer, Annelise, 12 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
