1943 ~ 2023
Jon M. Axtman Sr. was surrounded by his family as he peacefully passed away at the age of 79, on Sunday, May 28, 2023 after his long battle with Parkinsons.
Jon was born in Pierre, South Dakota on Oct 3, 1943. He married the love of his life Jerry on July 3, 1965. Jon dedicated his service to the US Air Force and Utah Air National Guard for 37 years before he retired as Chief Master Sergeant in June 2000.
When he wasn’t working he was spending time outdoors. He enjoyed planting his garden, tinkering in his garage, hunting, fishing, metal detecting, and hanging around the campfire with his family. He also loved spending one on one time with his Chow Chow Taz. Luckily for Taz this meant nightly strolls on the trail next to their house.
During his time here he made a memorable mark on the world, and touched many lives. He left us with many memories we can cherish until we meet up with him again.
Jon is survived by his loving wife Jerry, three children Kari (Fred) Johnston, Jon (Pattie) M. Axtman Jr, and Chris (Karen) Axtman, as well as 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his nephew Mike Axtman, and other beloved family members and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Michael J. and Clarice Axtman and his brothers Jack and Monte.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 for family and close friends.
