Jose “Jack” Lopez passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah. He was born on June 25, 1938, in Taos, New Mexico, to Margarito and Delores Lopez.
Jack married the love of his life, Doris Sweatfield, on December 24, 1962. Together they shared many years of devotion and family.
Jack dedicated 44 years of service to the Kennecott Mine before retiring. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in everything he did. One of his favorite pastimes was yard work, and he was well known for keeping his yard in immaculate, showpiece condition. Jack also honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Lopez; stepdaughter Teressa Sansing; stepson Perry Brewer (Leslie Brewer); son Dannie Lopez; 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Beverly (Danny Romquillo), Gwen (Steven Serwood), Darlene (Manuel Isbell), Emma (Ron Sulek); brothers Joe Lopez (Julie) and Darrell Lopez (Dawena); sisters-in-law Liz Lopez and Roberta Lopez; and brother-in-law John Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margarito and Delores Lopez; brothers John, David, and Alex Lopez; sister Connie Walker; and baby brother Johnny James Lopez.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM with interment to follow at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84084.
