Joseph Clinton Matson passed away on November 13, 2022. He was born on February 5, 1930 to Joseph R. Matson and Myrtice Irene Clinton.
He graduated from East High School in 1947. Married Mary Karolina Melcher on May 27, 1950, together they had 7 children: Mary (Jerry) Hewes, Debra (Jim) Goodrich, Joseph C. “Clint” Matson Jr., Linda (Dennis) Somerville, Velma (Kurt) Zilm, Karol (Tony) Alves(dec.), and John (Kim) Matson. They shared 48 years together.
Married Marion Beacco on November 23, 1999
He was a past patron of Eastern Star bountiful Mountain Chapter 2, member of Knights Templar- High Priest most elestrus of criptic masons of Utah, Salt Lake Masonic Lodge #17, Acasia Lodge, Demolay, 32 degree Scottish Rite, KCCH high commander, Midvale and Park City York Rite, and El Kalah Shrine.
He worked at Eimco and later Hill Air Force Base as an Electronic Technician for 27 years.
He loved fishing and working on cars or just about anything else that needed fixing.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; 6 children; step-son, Dave (Shelley) Beacco; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Karolina; daughter, Karol; sister, Beverly (Chick) Lange; granddaughter, Ruth Hewes; step-great-grandson, Dominic Zamudio; and step-granddaughter, Lindsay Beacco.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M., November 21, 2022 at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 East, Murray. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4-6:00 PM at the mortuary and again one hour prior to the services. Interment in Memorial Holladay Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Knights Templar Eye Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Children.
