Josephine May Curtis Salmon

Josephine May Curtis Salmon, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 93, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Richmond, Utah. She is finally with her eternal companion who passed away 42 years ago.

Mom was the 12th of 13 children born on November 23, 1922, to Clarence Shipp and Annie Marie Bates Curtis. All of mom's siblings have passed away. (Clarence, Annie, Ellis, Myron, Flora, Alvin, Ruth, Mary, Lyle, Norman, Elman, and Rhea)

Mom graduated from West High School.

Mom married the love of her life, Jack McGill Salmon, in the Salt Lake Temple on January 28, 1955. They made their home in the East Millcreek area. They spent 18 wonderful and romantic years together. Jack was ill most of their married life. Mom never complained and lovingly took care of dad. Dad loved mom with all his heart. She was his "Sweetheart."

Mom and Dad were never able to have children of their own. On January 28, 1963, eight years later on their Anniversary, they adopted a baby girl, Janet Ann. Janet was sealed for time and all Eternity to her parents in the Salt Lake Temple.

I feel so blessed to have parents that taught me to be kind and respectful to everyone I meet. I have never met anyone who has ever said an unkind word about my parents. What a wonderful example they have set for their posterity.

Mom willingly served in any church calling she was called to. One of her favorite callings was being a visiting teacher at the Wasatch Villa Rest Home. She never missed visiting her sisters. Mom loved to attend the temple and while her health permitted attended the temple weekly.

Mom loved being a stay at home mom, Fridays at the Beauty Parlor, lunch and shopping with best friend and sister Rhea, chocolate, dessert, and any activity her daughter and grandchildren participated in. Family was most important to Mom.

Thirteen years ago, Mom moved to Richmond, Utah to live with her daughter and her family when she was no longer able to drive due to her eyesight. Mom never complained, always had a positive attitude and thanked everyone who helped her.

What a blessing and privilege it has been to have mom in our home. She is a perfect example of a charitable and elect lady.

Mom is survived by her daughter, Janet and son-in-Law, Michael Carver; grandchildren: Daniel and Sandi Fawson, Emily, Rachael and D.J. Huish, Nicholas, Hannah, Michael, Jennifer and

David; great-grandchildren: Dallin Fawson, Heidi Tibbitts, Braxton, Brynlee and Bridger (arriving in July) Huish, and Jagger Egbert; also brother and sister-in-law, Jay and LaVon Salmon.

The family would like to thank Access Hospice for all their help these past few months. Special thanks to Bonnie, R.N., and Angie and Elaine CNA's. Thank you for treating Mom like she was part of your family.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Salt Lake Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
