Joshua Jacob Debry

June 25, 1981 — April 25, 2023

Joshua Jacob DeBry, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed from this world Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from a sudden heart attack. Josh faced many challenges during his childhood that together with his family’s love would shape him to be the incredible man that he is. Born on June 25, 1981 to Steve and Lorraine DeBry, Josh was a joy to his parents and a role model of a brother to Tyler and Megan.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time at his grandfather’s cabin. His adventurous spirit drew him to travel, epic movies and music scores, games, and books; but especially to Star Wars. The themes of hope and doing the impossible resonated with him as he overcame cancer as a child and again as the same specter befell his first wife, Kim.
Never one to feel disadvantaged or shy from responsibility, Josh set a high bar for himself and achieved much in his life. He would go on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business management and at the time of his death was pursuing a masters on track to graduate alongside his eldest daughter, Lyndsie. But his generosity and thoughtfulness of others were what set him apart and inspired such loyalty and gratitude from his family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
Loved by many but none more so than his daughters Lyndsie, Isabella, Sophia, and his wife Nancy. Josh was a devoted family man who poured his heart and soul into them, helping to create a home of laughter, love, inspiration, and the richness of life. No one would ever leave their home without a hug from Josh and the requisite two slaps on the back.
Preceded in death by his beloved grandfather Jerry DeBry and his wife, Helen, Grandparents Ken and Bernice Lyman and his first wife, and mother of his children, Kimberly (Steck) DeBry. Josh’s spirit and memory is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his wonderful daughters Lyndsie (Dalton), Isabella, and Sophia; his incredible parents Steve and Lorraine; his brother Tyler (Paige), and sister Megan; his grandmother Karen “Kay” Kesler, nieces, nephews and so many more family and friends, he was taken from us too soon.
A viewing will be held at the LDS church from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday April 30th at (2550 W Shields Lane, South Jordan, Utah). There will be a viewing held at 11:00am, followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm on Monday May 1st at the same location. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates. (6500 S Redwood Road).
