Josilyn Stonebrook

January 2, 1983 — May 20, 2026

Josilyn Stonebrook, age 43, passed away peacefully at home in Taylorsville, Utah, on May 20, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Josilyn was born on January 2, 1983, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Jay and Diane Catmull. She was sealed to her loving companion and best friend, Ken Stonebrook, in the Salt Lake Temple on October 11, 2005.

Josilyn was known for her unconditional kindness, beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and positivity that radiated from her every day. During her 20-year career at Nelson Laboratories, she developed a love for the sciences and built lifelong friendships. Josilyn loved skiing with her boys, mountain biking with her family, walking her loyal dog, Creedence, and hanging out at the pool with friends and family. Her greatest joy was supporting her boys in anything and everything they had an interest in. Josilyn was their fiercest advocate, greatest cheerleader, and best friend. If you met or knew Josilyn, you were also her friend. she was the kind of person who made people feel seen, welcomed, and loved, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Following a cancer diagnosis in 2023, Josilyn faced challenges that tested her in every possible way, but through it all, she continued to show incredible strength, positivity, faith, and love. At times, it was easy to forget or overlook her ongoing battle with cancer, based on the way she carried herself and rose above adversity. She gave everything she had to the people she loved most and remained a source of light even during the hardest days.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Stonebrook; their two amazing boys, Brody and Ezra; her parents, Jay and Diane Catmull; her brother, Bryce Catmull (Hanah) and their daughters, Reese and Kate; and her mother-in-law, Martha Stonebrook. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father-in-law, and other dear relatives.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 7115 South 3200 West in West Jordan. Funeral services will follow on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with a viewing prior from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow services immediately at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation in Josilyn's memory.

The Stonebrook/Catmull families are deeply thankful for the kindness, prayers, and generosity shown to us throughout this journey. Your love has meant more than words can express.
