With love in our hearts, we announce the passing of our dear sister and friend, Joyce LeAnn Rodeback, on May 29, 2025. She was born on March 18, 1955, in Murray, Utah, to Welby H. Rodeback and Chloe Hansen Rodeback.
The youngest of six children and the second daughter in her family, Joyce grew up with four older brothers who doted on her. Though lovingly spoiled, she was determined to keep up with her brothers in everything they did, especially when it came to sports.
Joyce had a lifelong love for animals, especially cats, and they were always an important part of her life. She graduated from East High School and later earned her degree from the University of Utah. For many years, she worked as a receptionist for her brother-in-law, Jim Fulks, at his clock shop in Bountiful, Utah.
Fueled by a passion for travel, Joyce became a certified travel agent and went on to work for American Express Travel and later Hess Travel in Bountiful until her retirement. She fulfilled her dream of exploring the world, often cruising to new destinations. She also loved being behind the wheel, especially after purchasing her cherished VW Beetle convertible in 2013, which she drove everywhere with pride.
Joyce was curious about the world, always staying informed about current events and politics. Even in retirement, she remained intellectually active by attending evening classes at the University of Utah, diving into a variety of subjects. At home, she found joy in tending her garden, caring for her cats, including the strays who found sanctuary in her garage, and feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She had a gentle heart for all animals and never arrived at a friend’s home without a treat in her pocket for their pets.
Joyce deeply valued her friendships. She and her friends supported one another, often caring for each other’s pets while traveling, sharing both loyalty and love.
She is survived by her brother, Galen B. Rodeback; her sister, Donna Marie Rodeback Fulks; her sister-in-law, Patricia Rodeback; many beloved nieces and nephews; and countless devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Jay F. Rodeback, Clifford H. Rodeback, and Val Dean H. Rodeback.
In accordance with her wishes, Joyce will be cremated, and no funeral services will be held.
