Joyce Lynn Van Grol, a beloved matriarch, tenderly embraced life from November 6, 1939, when she was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah, until her peaceful passing on October 12, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah. Joyce dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, serving as a very proud housewife who found joy in the little things that life had to offer.
Her educational journey led her to West High School, where she formed the foundation of her intellect and curiosity that would carry through her vibrant life. Joyce derived great satisfaction in nurturing her family and instilled in her children the values that she held dear. She was most proud of her children—Rick, Darren, Kevin, Willy, Leon and Chris—who were constant sources of joy and pride throughout her life. Their achievements were her accolades, and each moment spent with them brought her fulfillment.
Joyce cherished her role as a grandmother to Christa, Jamie, and Avery. Her grandchildren brought her pure happiness, and she delighted in sharing experiences with them that would create lasting memories. Summers spent camping at Bear Lake were among her fondest memories, moments filled with laughter and the sounds of nature that resonated deeply with her.
With a love for the beauty of nature, Joyce had a particular fondness for butterflies and flowers, especially bleeding heart plants, which she adored for their ability to attract the delicate creatures she cherished. This love for nature mirrored her kind-hearted and nurturing spirit, always reminding those around her of the beauty that life holds.
Joyce was also known for her leisure pursuits. She found comfort in watching classic television shows such as Matlock, The Waltons, The Andy Griffith Show, and M.A.S.H. These moments provided her with quiet joy and laughter, pieces of her life that she enjoyed sharing with her family during their gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Lavaun Baugh; her mother, Bessy Robinson; and her brother, Norman Baugh. Each loved one that Joyce lost carved an indelible mark on her heart, a reminder of the bonds that transcend even the greatest distances.
As we remember Joyce Lynn Van Grol, let us celebrate a life filled with love, beauty, and a deep devotion to family. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will forever echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by her husband, Harry, her sons, and her cherished grandchildren, whose lives she touched immeasurably.
