Judith Morgan Latham

March 12, 1942 — January 22, 2024

Farmington, Utah

Judith Morgan Latham, 81, of Farmington, Utah, passed away on January 22, 2024 of natural causes related to long battle with dementia.

Judy was born on March 12, 1942 to Wayne Spencer and Georgeva Giles Morgan in Salt Lake City, Utah.   After Judy graduated from East High School in 1960, she went on to study early childhood education at the University of Utah.  During her school years and early adult life, Judy was a great help to her family as her mother traveled with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and fought terminal cancer.

Judy was a dedicated educator with a passion for teaching first grade.  She taught for many years at West Kearns Elementary and several other schools.  She taught countless students how to read, giving many underprivileged children a better chance at life.  She never spent an evening just relaxing; every spare minute was spent coloring reading materials, cutting, laminating, grading papers and finding creative ways to engage her class in reading.

She taught her children, through her example, the meaning of hard work.   There was no task too large.  From fixing the roofing on her home, weeding the garden, to canning food for hours on end, she was tireless.  She worked to raise her 5 daughters often as a single mother on a schoolteacher’s salary.

Judy was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She relied on her relationship with God as she endured many difficulties in life.  She also served as a primary chorister (her favorite calling), primary president, relief society president, stake young women’s president, and the most memorable for her children – road show director.

George and Judy were married on November 09, 1991 and later sealed in the Jordan River Temple on May 21, 2011, and then served in the England Birmingham Mission from 2011 to 2013.     George and Judy’s relationship and love for one another continued to grow during their 30+ years of marriage.   George showed unconditional love and complete devotion as her battle with dementia continued to worsen.  He held her hand and told her she was beautiful until the day she died.
