Judith Yates Decker

March 11, 1945 — September 18, 2022

Judith passed away peacefully on Sunday September 18th, 2022 at the Murray IHC in Salt Lake City Utah surrounded by family. Judith was born to Thomas Harper Yates and Muriel Morris Yates on Sunday March 11th, 1945 in Rigby Idaho. She was previously married to Conally W. Decker with which she had her 4 beloved sons. After separating from her husband, she has lived close to her sons here in Salt Lake for the better part of 20 years.
Judith for her entire life has been and continues to be a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many, many callings over the years but her favorite was being the Pack Leader or Den Mother. She had a way with boys. Though not always the most outgoing type of personality, when it came to her sons, she was by far the most outspoken fan and fearless protector. “Nobody is going to hurt my cubs,” Momma Bear could be heard saying. Whenever there was an opportunity to serve or volunteer mom was there. Besides being a fantastic homemaker, mother, she always had a flair and desire to do artsy or crafty type projects. The first we can remember was tole painting, then crocheting and then it was cross-stitching. I am sure she has made a little trinket tray for half of Salt Lake County! If you have one, please be sure to cherish it.
Judith is survived by Randall W. Decker (oldest son) and Jared Y. Decker (youngest). Her oldest brother Richard Yates and her youngest brother Morris Yates. Her Grandchildren, Keigo (KC) Con Decker, Kody T. Decker, Kailee Y. Day, Kimii M. Castleton along with their spouses, Kayla, Jed, and Brennan. Finally she is survived by her Great Granddaughter Mirai Ixtlahuac Decker whom she was so happy to meet prior to her parting ways with this world.
Judith is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Muriel Yates, and all her sisters, Beverly, Patsy, and Sheila. Mom also bore the tragedy of losing 2 of her sons Corey Harper Decker and Nathan Jack Decker. She never judged, always loved, expressed that love openly, and prayed on behalf of all those who faced trials.
