1943 Judy 2026

Judyth Wagstaff Sahm

August 22, 1943 — January 20, 2026

Holladay

Judyth Irene Wagstaff Sahm was born August 22, 1943 to loving parents Nathan Harding & Thelma Laura (Mills) Wagstaff. She passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026.

Judy was a darling blond, blue-eyed little girl who loved singing, tap dancing and ballet. Her love of music and dance continued until the end of her life. Judy grew up in a simpler time. As a teenager she spent endless days in the sun lying out in her backyard on King Street with her friends to get the perfect tan and listening to Elvis. Music was always a joy for Judy. Even for the past few years as she struggled with dementia, if there was music, Judy was dancing and singing along. We will always think of Judy when we hear Elvis, the Beach Boys, and Neil Diamond.

On June 25, 1965 Judy married Stephen Sahm. Even though the marriage didn’t last it gave her the greatest blessing of her life, her daughter Tami. As a single mom, the two of them were inseparable best friends and that continued for the rest of her life. Judy was always there for Tami as a child, and Tami returned that devotion as she selflessly cared for her mother until the end. She was there every single day for her mother.

They had a special bond. Judy was always a hard worker. She graduated from Highland High and eventually BYU in Secretarial Science, and from there entered the workforce. She worked for Valley Bank and then went on to work for the Utah Department of Corrections and retired after 32 years of service.

Judy had many friends, and especially loved her long-time friends Ruth, Beverly, Cheryl and Marty. She was a loyal friend and loved to have fun with them. She was always there for her friends, and they were there for her. Judy learned to ski when her brother Jerry left her at the top of a ski run! A lifelong flirt, she found plenty of willing young men to help her get down the mountain! Golfing also became a favorite pastime for Judy. She even had a hole in one! She was very proud of that hole in one and she missed golf when she was no longer able to go.

Judy exemplified kindness, compassion, and a positive attitude. She never complained when life was hard. She just got to work and persevered. She loved her parents and siblings Jerry, Marlene, and Steve and was proud to be a Wagstaff. She had a special, close relationship with all her siblings but was especially close to Jerry because he was only 17 months older than she was. Jerry never missed an opportunity to tease his sister, resulting in many funny and sweet memories. She was a wonderful daughter to her parents, and she cared for them lovingly in their later years. She missed her parents and Jerry, and we are sure their reunion is wonderful.

Judy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Being a tithe payer was important to her. She especially enjoyed the branch at the Ridge Cottonwood Memory Care/Assisted Living. The Branch Presidency there was especially kind to Judy and they loved her, even taking her to see the chickens.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Ridge Cottonwood Memory Care/Assisted Living, Inspiration Hospice, Aspen Physician Group, Visiting Angels and all those who have helped Judy over the years. Thank you for being kind and compassionate to our special mother, sister and friend.

We will miss you Judyth Irene. Go fly with the angels! Judy is survived by her loving daughter Tami Sahm Bleak, her sister Marlene Bowers, her brother Steve (Terri) Wagstaff, sister-in law Floy Wagstaff and many beloved nieces and nephews who all loved their Aunt Judy. She was preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Thelma Wagstaff and her big brother Jerry Wagstaff.
