Julia Clare Fairbourn Aposhian, elect lady, passed away on March 19, 2014, after 84 years of helping all who met her feel loved and appreciated.
Julia was born on June 19, 1929 to Rose Irene Bleazard and George Ford Fairbourn in Salt Lake City, UT. She attended Roosevelt Elementary, Granite Jr. High, and she met George Z. Aposhian Jr. in the orchestra at Granite High School. She loved good literature, poetry, beautiful works of music and art, and all of the creations of our Heavenly Father except the snake. Julia waited for George while he went on an LDS mission to the Eastern States. They were married by Elder Ezra Taft Benson on September 7, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they loved and cared for four daughters, while serving tirelessly in many church and community assignments. Julia served in the PTA, and was the president of the Utah Association of Women. She earned an Associates degree from BYU in Family History. She loved the Relief Society and all of the sisters who served with her in that organization. She loved her school friends, "The Granite Girls," and also many other special friends that she treasured all her life. She also cherished her time working in the Salt Lake Temple. Julia appreciated George's Armenian heritage. She learned how to make beautiful Armenian lace handkerchiefs, and delicious Armenian food! She excelled as a homemaker. She loved handwork and creating a clean environment for living, learning, growing and teaching. Julia and George lived in Fort Riley Kansas, Epsom Surrey England, Victoria Australia (where they presided over the Australia Melbourne Mission), Frankfurt Germany, and Kirtland Ohio, while their home base has always been next door to the chapel on Gundersen Lane in Holladay. Julia has taught and served faithfully all around the world. She was true and faithful to all of her covenants. Her devotion to our Savior Jesus Christ has been the guiding principle of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant brothers, her sister LaVon (Ramon) Escudero, her grandsons Abraham and Carson, and her sister-in-law Leilani. She is survived by her eternal companion George, her daughters Geri (Ennis) Gibbs, Sharon (Dalton) Wright, Diane (Doug) Moffat, Laurel (Richard) Warr, grandchildren Brittany(Matt), Zac (Hilary), Emily (Vince), Hillary (Tom), Verity (Teo), Justin, Jordan (Pam), Ashley (Jordan), Cameron (Alex), Lexi (Morgan), Moby (Jenny), Max, Melissa (Kaelin), Mattie, Sara, David, and James, her great-grandchildren Nate, Spencer, Sam, Cameron, Amanda, Ben, Landon, Haley, Bridger, Hazel, Adelyn, Elsie, Cohen, Liam. Tali, Jayda, Josie, Hannah, Julia, Jackson, Ben and Amelia, as well as beloved in-laws Lois (Glade), Richard (Jeanette), Lawrence (Tamra), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. George often sang to her, "I love you truly, Julie dear". Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Valley View 3rd Ward, 1925 East Gundersen Lane (4125 South). A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, March 25, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Wednesday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to services.
