Centerville

Julie Bascom Dyson, beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 25th, 2024, after a valiant fight against her third bout of cancer. Julie faced her illness with incredible strength and grace, surrounded by her loving family and the many friends who adored her.

Julie was deeply supported by her devoted husband, Todd Dyson, who stood by her side every step of the way during her battle with cancer. Her children, Brad Williams (Camille), Blake Dyson, Alex Dyson, and Aubrey Dyson, were a constant source of love and joy. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Charlotte and Elliott Dyson, and Elijah Williams, and she spent as much time as possible creating happy memories with them, filling their lives with the same joy that she embodied.

Born to Gary and Arlene Bascom, Julie grew up in a loving family alongside her six siblings. Her family, along with Todd’s family, was a constant source of love and support, especially during her illness.

Julie was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to bring light into the lives of everyone she met. She spent years working at Whisperwood Boutique in Bountiful, where her natural talent for decorating shone through. As co-owner of the boutique, she delighted in helping others plan weddings and events, sharing her creativity and love for beautiful spaces.

Her faith played a central role in her life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Julie served faithfully in many callings, particularly within the Young Women’s and Primary programs. She was also an active member of her community, contributing her time and efforts to causes like Centerpoint Theater fundraising, the Festival of Trees, and other community events.

Julie will be remembered for her generous spirit, love of life, and deep devotion to her family. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Julie is survived by her husband, Todd P. Dyson; her children and Brad A. Williams (Camille, Elijah), Blake Dyson (Charlotte, Elliott), Alex Dyson, and Aubrey Dyson; her parents Gary and Arlene Bascom; her siblings David Whittle (Lisa), Loree Bennett (Bill), Jana Tuttle (Ron), Michael Bascom (Jennifer), and Holly Brandner (Tom); her parents-in-law Don Dyson (Tess) and Connie Hayes; her sisters-in-law Heidi Bishop and Amy Jacobson (Brian); her brother-in-law Brad Dyson (Brooke); and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Julie was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Whittle (Joy), and her father-in-law, Norman Hayes.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the many ward members, friends, and neighbors who provided love and compassionate service during Julie’s illness. They also wish to express their deep gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and hospice caregivers who supported Julie during her treatments and home care, providing comfort and care in her final days.
