Julius McCandless Hoggard, aka "Julie Baby" or Grandpa Hoggard, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 4th at 8:35pm at St. Marks Hospital from kidney failure secondary to acute pancreatitis.
Julius was a compassionate, generous, jovial and loving person who will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. Julie was a devoted spouse, loving father, incredible friend and fantastic grandpa to many - even those not related to him. Whether he was driving a jeep, building trains and doll houses or chasing yardbirds, Grandpa Hoggard brought joy to all who knew him.
Julius was born in American Fork to Glen Eldredge Hoggard and Laura Hazel McCandless on July 15, 1925. Julie was a terrific brother, and a proud "Caveman." He served as an electrician's mate in the Navy on the USS Sebec (tanker) during World War II from June 1943-April 1946 and Korea aboard the USS Montrose (amphibious assault ship) from September 1950a
